A visitor to Disney World claims to be the victim of a credit card fraud worth more than $40,000, after she dropped an Apple Watch on a Disney World trip.
While stories of lost or misplaced Apple devices are a common occurrence, it is rare for device owners to experience significant amounts of loss. In a report about an April 13 trip to Disney World in Florida, the Apple Watch owner claimed just that.
According to a report from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, “a Disney World visitor lost her Apple Watch while riding in an elevated position.”
The report claims that the woman’s husband came down to try to get the Apple Watch back, which prompted the operators to stop the ride.
After reporting the incident to Disney Guest Relations, the woman was notified that the staff did not have the watch.
Complicating the incident is the claim that the woman began receiving fraud alerts for her credit card. It says several credit cards have been loaded onto the Apple Watch, including an American Express card with unlimited credit.
The fraud alerts allegedly amounted to $40,000 in charges on her card.
