To stream content from your iPhone to your Mac, iOS knows how to do it by default, thanks to AirPlay. Unfortunately, this solution is limited to multimedia content only. Thus, nothing other than the music or video being played can be streamed.
In other words, AirPlay does not support “mirroring”, i.e. displaying the iPhone on the screen of your Mac. However, macOS includes everything you need to mirror your iPhone screen to your Mac, which can be very handy for a demonstration, for example.
Mirroring your iPhone screen to Mac’s big screen in front of an audience is very easy, without the need to install any third-party apps. All you need is one item you probably already have: a Lightning-to-USB cable.
Here’s how to mirror your iPhone screen on your Mac.
1- Connect iPhone to Mac
Get a Lightning cable and connect your iPhone to your Mac.
2- Launch QuickTime
To mirror your iPhone to your Mac, you’ll use macOS’s native video player: QuickTime.

3- Enable mirroring
In QuickTime, click the File menu, and then select New Video Recording .

By default, QuickTime uses your Mac’s FaceTime camera, ready to videotape you. Hover over the window to show the video controls, then next to the record button, click the down arrow to expand the options.

In the Camera section, select your iPhone, then on your iPhone screen, confirm Wake This PC by pressing Yes and entering your unlock code.

Your iPhone screen should automatically appear on your Mac screen. Thus, you can hold the iPhone in your hand and move around it while viewing the actions performed on the screen of your Mac.
