The containment of the Shanghai region would have delayed production of the next iPhones again this year. Some models will be delayed several weeks.
However, nothing is final, if Apple’s partners can work twice as hard.
Delayed production of the next iPhone! According to Nikkei Asia,
China’s prolonged confinement to the Shanghai region that has been on lockdown since the end of March is seriously slowing iPhone 14 manufacturing.
So much so that Apple would have required its suppliers to make “product development efforts” to make up for lost time. If partners failed to turn things around,
iPhone production schedules and initial production volumes could be affected.
According to an Apple supplier cited by Nikkei Asia,
“It will be hard to make up for lost time, Apple and its suppliers are working day and night to speed up development,”
especially as the reopening of factories in Shanghai is “rather slow.”
