VK Group launched its own app store called RuStore, which aims to replace Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
A few days ago, on the exact 26th of May, Russia revealed RuStore, a local alternative to the two largest app stores, Play Store and App Store, which can no longer function normally immediately. Thus, Russia is accelerating the launch and adoption of technology services that compete with Western services.
This in-house app store is headed by VK, an Internet group known as the “Russian Facebook,” which offers its 60 million users messaging, communication, photo sharing, and managing diverse multimedia content.
So what do we find in RuStore?
Since the launch, the store, available on rustore.ru, has presented more than a hundred applications that are clearly accessible to Android users.
This number could have increased dramatically since then, to the point that we can talk about several hundred applications now available.
If we clearly find such solutions as Yandex, Sberbank or even VK (and its Messenger), then the applications available on RuStore are classified into different categories, currently 14.
So you’ll find state service apps, and other apps related to health, sports, or even medicine, transportation, finance, games, news, purchases, gadgets, food and beverages or entertainment.
The head of VK is betting big on this new app store, which provides users and developers with 24/7 support.
“I am sure that RuStore will be in high demand from users and developers. It has everything it takes to become the largest Russian app store,” said the manager.
